The Opportunity
As a Financial Leadership Partner (FLP), you will play a dual role:
- Serve as a trusted financial leader for our clients, guiding them on the Path to 12% and helping them improve profitability and operational clarity.
- Help shape the future of The Herring Group by refining and expanding both our professional services and our data analytics and reporting capabilities

We are a professional services and data analytics firm. Our team serves as outsourced financial leaders for landscape companies. We focus on the strategies and tactics that help optimize the profit margin of companies, the life margin of owners and executives, and the autonomy of employees.
This is a 100% remote position that provides location flexibility to work from home (anywhere in Texas, Georgia, or Colorado) during business hours.

I was looking for a part-time professional position and was thrilled when I found The Herring Group. The fact the position is 100% remote was icing on the cake. We provide financial consulting services to growing Landscape companies. The work is part contractor (preparing reports and analysis), part consultant (providing finance and accounting expertise), and part coach (meeting with clients and their teams through virtual meetings). We have a collaborative team and professional and engaged clients. Life balance is a priority for our team and a goal we aim to achieve for our clients.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead financial strategy and reporting for a portfolio of clients
- Customize financial models and dashboards to support client goals
- Facilitate conversations that drive pricing, margin, and operational improvements
- Collaborate with our team to enhance internal processes and service offerings
- Contribute to firm-wide growth initiatives, including automation and team development
What We’re Looking For:
- 10-20 years of experience
- Background in management consulting, CFO or Controller-type roles
- Experience working with companies in the SMB market
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to help grow a purpose-driven firm
- Strategic thinking and the ability to turn insights into action
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Comfort with financial modeling, dashboards, and data-driven decision-making
- A passion for helping small business owners succeed—financially and personally
- MUST reside in Texas, Georgia, or Colorado
