SMBs (small and medium-sized businesses) suffer from low levels of profitability and routinely go out of business, adversely affecting families and communities. The industry we serve averages a 6% operating profit margin. Why so low? One big reason is the lack of financial leadership. We think every company should have an operating profit margin of at least 10% to 12%+.
The Opportunity: Improve the profit margin of small and medium-sized (SMB) businesses, the life margin of owners, and the autonomy of employees. We are financial leaders on a mission for SMB ($3M-$100M) companies, owners, employees and their families, and communities to thrive.
Using our proprietary process, you will lead in pricing, operational reporting, incentive plans, and business strategy. (We do not perform the other CFO-level functions for our clients.)
We measure our success by the increase in our clients’ operating profit margin.

This is a 100% remote position that provides location flexibility to work from home (anywhere in Texas or Georgia) during business hours, approximately 30 hours per week.
You will not be required to sell or obtain new clients. Our customers appreciate us and often refer us to other owners – the ultimate compliment.

I was looking for a part-time professional position and was thrilled when I found The Herring Group. The fact the position is 100% remote was icing on the cake. We provide financial consulting services to growing Landscape companies. The work is part contractor (preparing reports and analysis), part consultant (providing finance and accounting expertise), and part coach (meeting with clients and their teams through virtual meetings). We have a collaborative team and professional and engaged clients. Life balance is a priority for our team and a goal we aim to achieve for our clients.
