2023 Ski Conference for Owners

One of the things that I enjoy about my business is getting to know other business owners. In the past few years, I have also developed a love for skiing. 

Last year, I combined those loves with The Herring Group’s focus on increasing life margin by creating the first annual landscape owners’ ski trip for our clients. Other winter sports are also available – like snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. 

The second annual trip will be February 12-16, 2023. 

The focus of the trip will be life margin, winter sports, and camaraderie. We will play hard and have some "sitting around" time for reflection. 

The location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado 

I chose Steamboat because they have great snow, you can fly there (no travel on Interstate 70), the condo complexes have free shuttle buses that work like Uber (no need to rent a car), the mountains face west so it is easy to see while skiing in the afternoon, and there are activities for both skiers and non-skiers.  

Accommodations: We will stay at The Lodge at Steamboat, a condo complex about 400 yards from the Gondola. It’s walkable and the complex also has a shuttle bus. Each condo has three bedrooms – so three owners per condo. The cost for the condo will be approximately $275 per night per bedroom.

Bring your spouses or significant others if you want. You can add them at a later time.

The program: I have asked my coach, Bob Royall, to lead us in some discussion around life purpose, life mission and dreams. It’s high-level stuff that I have found quite valuable in helping me rethink my work. I think you will enjoy it (and it may also be helpful as you interact with your employees – but that is not the focus of our time at Steamboat). There is nothing like rubbing shoulders with fellow business owners and having leisurely conversations on ski lifts about business and life. 

We will meet for about two hours each morning and then hit the slopes. We will also gather for dinner, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 

For you non-skiers that are interested, I think you will find that Steamboat has a lot to offer.

Other than transportation, skiing and accommodations, the cost is $1495 and includes three light breakfasts and three dinners. The cost of a spouse or significant other for dinners is $345.
